This post is about using the rest of Winter as an opportunity to reset your desires, your dreams and your physical body to get ready for Spring.

The Winter is the time of year that the sunlight is the weakest and the days are the shortest. This is the time when nature takes a rest, when plants/trees retreat their energy and their sap into the Earth for replenishment. This is also the time of year that we naturally need to take a rest a pause from the busyness of life. Time to reflect, into our consciousness, upon ourselves and what is happening in our life. What is working for our highest good and what is not working.

Weaving the cocoon to journey within is a process of introspection, defining boundaries and then setting intentions. It is a process of going into the inner silence seeing the wisdom into who and what we are now, getting to know yourself.

It is best to remember to be the observer while doing this, getting out of our emotional damages being non-judgemental, taking responsibility for what is yours and leaving the rest, will make this process much easier.

Introspection is the process of discovering ourselves. Looking at all aspects the good, the shadows, the beautiful, the ugly, your health, habits and relationships as deeply as you are ready to go in this moment.  Then making choices about what you do discover, using your heart centered Soul voice. Setting boundaries about what is acceptable in your life. This takes some time and pondering who and what is supporting you.

How do you feel when you’re around certain people? Doing certain things in your life? Do they drain you?  Or do they encourage you to be the best you can be?

After defining boundaries comes the next phase of the cocoon, intention setting — how are you going to emerge out of the chrysalis?   What do you want your transformation/your shapeshift to look like? How will you feel? What will you be doing? Do your best to get a good image and/or feeling and then merge with this image.

It can be challenging in the busyness of life to hear that inner voice it is imperative to be quiet take the time out. Going into another setting, leaving your everyday world for a while. So you can metamorphosis/shapeshift into who and what you want to be in your life.

So we are over half way through Winter here in Canberra now and it has been a cold and dry one this year. Long cold nights and lots of beautiful sunny afternoons, a great time to go for a walk in nature to ponder what you want to create in your future. When you are out in nature there are signs to show you a new way to think. The other day I saw my first Robin of the New Year. Now remember that the true nature New Year is June 22 it is when the Sun starts moving back closer to Earth and we get more Sunlight each day. Plants and animals react to that by starting to wake up from their Winter’s rest. We still have a way to go before these cold dark days finish, but we are starting to wake-up slowly.

The Robin’s dreaming story in Scott Alexanders King’s book ‘Animal Dreaming’ tells us to welcome new growth, rebirth and new beginnings, it primes us for change, realisation, endurance and wisdom. Dig deep and consult your Heart voice for what you truly need in your life.

Some questions for Winter:

Are you living the life you want to be living? Or are you living the life as a support person for another’s dream?

We will always support others in our life especially our Loved ones this is asking are you putting your dreams on hold/pause for someone else’s dreams? How can you support others and still live your dream? (Robin warns us against sacrificing our own sense of wellbeing when helping others).

What are you doing to support your body’s health?

What do you Love doing so much that it makes your Heart swell with appreciation and gratefulness? And how often do you do it?
